The JIEB Exams

The JIEB exams are held once a year, usually in November. There are three papers:

• Liquidations
• Administrations, Company Voluntary Arrangements (CVAs) and Receiverships
• Personal Insolvency

Each paper is 3 hours long with 1/2 hour allowed for reading time.

To pass the JIEB exam you have to pass all three papers, though you don’t have to sit them all at once. More information is available in the notes to candidates.

The JIEB exam is a practical exam and tests the knowledge and skills that insolvency practitioners use in their working lives. You can see what was tested in recent years by looking at the past papers. The examiner’s report gives you an idea of the sort of thing they expect to see in the answers.
